Yesterday DreamHack announced the start of the long-awaited sign-up process for the first Challenger tournament from the ESL Pro Tour.
Unfortunately, many fans and players remained disappointed as it turned out that due to time constraints there will only be an open LAN qualifier – at the event itself which will take place in Anaheim, USA. Initially the organizers said that only 32 players will be allowed to participate in that qualifier, in a first-come first-served basis. However, due to outrage from fans, they retracted that statement and said that they may allow more than 32 participants if there is sufficient interest. In order to sign up, a player needs to have a ticket to the event, which costs $115 and can be purchased from here

8 players from the open qualifier will proceed to the finals. There they will meet with 8 invited players. For now, it is not clear who the 8 invitees will be, but it is very likely they will not be Chinese players, due to the long time it usually takes for US visas to be issued to Chinese.
The total prize pool of the tournament will be $25,000. However, the organizers haven’t announced yet how this prize pool will be distributed. They confirmed that for the next Challenger tournaments, the qualifiers will be online, and the top 16 qualified players will get invited with transportation costs covered by the organizers.
