Lyn is coming back! (Spoiler)
NeXT Spring 2019 the offline phase was playing today. From the results of qualifier, Lyn is 6th seed, so he has to play from the bottom. Which means, if he wants to get the champion, he has to win FoCuS, Lawliet, Moon, Infi and TH000. And today, he made the first step!
Before the game today, Lyn had lost so many times to FoCuS, Lawliet and Moon recently, and he was also being in a bad shape under patch 1.30. After he lost to Moon in WSB with resulting 2-5, he said let’s wait for the next patch. We can see how desperate he was.
We believe Lyn’s fans much be having a very nervous night. Let us take a easy review of the games today.
Lyn vs Focus
If this game happen a few months ago, it’s should be a game without any suspense. However, FoCuS has gotten a big improvement and became so strong in these few months, and he beat Lyn a few times in some important game, so it’s pretty hard to guess who would win in this time.
The starting of this series looked pretty good for Lyn, Lyn got 2-0 lead and he was having match point by the time. But the situation changed from the third set. In the third set on NI, the early stage was very good for Lyn, his SH was having 540 Mana when she was level 1!
FoCuS tied the series to 2-2.
However, FoCuS took the good chance in the mid-game, he used Scroll of the Beast, HeX and Ensnare to kill Lyn BM. Even though Lyn bought back from the Tavern and made a good trade in the fight immediately, FoCuS’s item was too good in the late game. And FoCuS won his first point.
After that, in the fourth set, Lyn was having a good opening again. He canceled FoCuS’s Burrow a few times, and the game was under his control. But, again, FoCuS gave up leveling, he kept going to fight, harass and cancel Lyn’s buildings. When Lyn was not concentrating on his SH, FoCuS took the chance and killed Lyn’s SH, the game became so good for FoCuS and he also got his second point with that.
In the fifth set on CH, FoCuS was having advantage in the starting. Somehow, FoCuS was too eager to win and he went to fight against Lyn when Lyn prepared very well and waited for FoCuS beside the Fountain. After the fight, Lyn got back the control and took the game at last. Lyn advanced to Round 2.
Lyn had lost to Lawliet and Moon many times.
According to the stats from Warcraft3.info, Lyn had lost many times to Lawliet and Moon since the release of patch 1.30. From the Link below, you can see that Lyn lost the last 5 games versus Lawliet, and the last 6 games versus Moon.

Especially the legendary player Moon, he was having very great performance, how would Lyn do under this situation?
Lyn vs Lawliet
The first two sets was very interesting in this series. In the first set on NI, Lyn trained some Wyverns to harass Lawliet’s expansion. Meanwhile, Lyn chose TC second to fight against mass Archers, and it’s so effective. With the great micro, Lyn took down the first map.
After that we came to the second map of TM, Lawliet chose Panda second. As we know, TM is a good map for the hero leveling, and the Panda reached level 3 very quick, and the Breath Fire was killing those Spirit Walkers, Raiders and Grunts. Lawliet won the second map.
Has Mass Talons already left from the stage of Warcraft III?
In the third set of LR, Lawliet’s KotG was doing nothing in the early stage, meanwhile, Lyn BM harassed the Night Elf very successfully. When we came to mid game, Lawliet went for the strategy we had no seen for long time, the Mass Talons. However, this strategy has been researched by Orcs very well. Lyn knew that Talons’ movement speed is very slow and they are very weak when hitting on buildings. So, he kept going for base run and building Reinforced Defense Towers at his expansion. The mass Talons had no solution for that, Lawliet typed out GG!
In the fourth set on EI, Lyn was controlling the whole game. Although Lawliet built a Ancient of Protector beside of Lyn’s base secretly, but it’s not effective. After Lyn completed Tier 2 and had a Tier 2 army, Lyn finished the game easily.
Lyn vs Moon
From this series, we can easily see that Moon is better than Lawliet in understanding the timing and rhythm in the game. In the mid stage of first set, on NI, Moon got so much benefits before the Ensnare was upgraded. When Lyn was using BM to harass Moon’s base and expansion, Moon went to attack Lyn’s base and fight Lyn’s army which was without BM. In the late game, Lyn couldn’t make a return and typed out GG after his BM was killed.
Moon also learned from the game that Lyn vs Lawliet, he built Ancient of Protector to make sure his expansion safe, and he knew Lyn would use Wyverns, so he prepared very well before the Wyverns’ harass. Lyn had no chance in this game and typed out GG at last.
The return of Lyn.
In the third set on TM, Lyn chose FS first to harass Moon and the expansion, and he succeeded to delay Moon’s expansion. With the good timing of Serpent Wards, Raiders and Grunts, Lyn went to attack and killed almost every unit of Moon. Moon typed out GG and lost his favourite map.
At the last two games, the openings was very good for Lyn. In the fourth map on EI, Moon chose KotG first and went to expand in Tier 1. However, Lyn guessed right how Moon was playing, he sent his BM to creep jack with Wind Walk and Speed Scroll. And Moon’s KotG had been in level 1 for long time. With the huge advantage from early stage, Lyn won the game and tied the series to 2-2.
The opening of fifth set on LR was just too good for Lyn. Lyn knocked down Ancient of War very early, and he also stole a few creeps and items from Moon afterward. Moon tried to creep jack and kill Lyn’s heroes but he failed that. At last, Lyn won the series and resulting 3-2. The series was started with 0-2, but Lyn made an incredible comeback and advanced to the Semi Final.
Event tomorrow.
On tomorrow, we will stick with NeXT Spring. Lyn will face Infi in Semi Final (Round 4), and the winner between them will fight against the 1st seed player, TH000 in the Grand Final. Will Lyn make a incredible break though? Or his winning streak will be stopped tomorrow? Let’s wait and see tomorrow.
