After the release of Warcraft III: Reforged, Sok has reached to the top 4 in many tournaments this year. In addition, Sok’s continuous victory over the Colorful and WFZ in the Leeks Cup also made him having a lot of Chinese fans.

In NeXT Spring 2020 which completed recently, Sok defeated one of his greatest opponent – Moon and made into the top 4. Taking this opportunity, we also conducted an interview with Sok, let us take a look at how Sok evaluates himself, his opponent, and how our favorite game – Warcraft III.

I would give my performance in NeXT 8 points out of 10 points.

Q: Hello, Sok, before we start, say hi to our readers.

Sok: Hello everyone, I’m Sok from Team Afreeca Freecs.

Q: NeXT Spring 2020 was just completed. Are you satisfied with your performance in NeXT?

Sok: Well, I feel quite satisfactory.

Q: If we want you to rate your performance in NeXT, how many points would you give yourself?

Sok: I would give myself 8 points out of 10 points.

Sok’s comments about Moon.

Q: Let’s make a comment on one of your opponent on NeXT – Moon. What kind of player do you think he is?

Sok: Moon will use a variety of strategies to make his opponents in panic, and induce their to multi-task, for making them lose their pace in game.

Q: Compared to other Night Elves, do you feel different when you play against Moon?

Sok: As I mentioned above, he will play different heroes according to different maps. Moon is very good on his mindset and his micro is great, so he’s always dominating in the opening of the game.

I always listen to LawLiet’s suggestions, that’s why I will lose to him.

Q: Your performance in this year has made everyone surprised. How do you achieve such great progress?

Sok: Keep practicing, and see more Replays of other Human players. In Human vs Night Elf, I always listen to LawLiet’s suggestions, that’s why I will lose to him during the tournament. As for other Match-up, I will often discuss with Chaemiko.

Q: Do you have any goals for this year?

Sok: I hope I will be healthy, maintaining the current economic level, and I hope I am able to stay in the top four for a long time.

Q: In your career, which game impressed you the most?

Sok: In a game of WGL Winter, I lost to TH000 MK first strategy with resulting 0:3. Since then, I have been leaning towards stability strategies and more considering the diversity of tactics.

It will be more stressful to meet Lyn.

Q: In the current patch, which match-up do you think is the most difficult for Human?

Sok: I think all of them are similar, but it is a bit difficult to fight against the top players.

Q: For yourself, which player in the current patch will make you feel more stressed?

Sok: It will be more stressful to meet Lyn in this patch.

Q: After the 9-0 victory over Colorful in the Leeks Cup, you have had a lot of Chinese fans. How did you feel during the last map, what were you thinking about?

Sok: In a Bo9 game, the first 2 to 3 maps are the key to winning or losing. If you are behind with 0-2 or 0-3 in the early stage, you will feel way more pressure. So even if you have an advantage in the later game, you will make mistakes, but actually, on the Ladder I still often lose to Colorful….

About The Team League: Warcraft GOLD Team League.

Q: Why did you name your team as F4? (in Warcraft GOLD Team League)

Sok: Check and Soin did it. Everyone seems to think that this is called “Flower 4”. But in Korea, the audiences think it is Fish 4 or Fxxx 4, haha.

Q: In the Warcraft GOLD Team League, what is the goal of your team – F4?

Sok: Our goal is to reach the top 4.

(Translator note: the original interview was publish on 8th May 2020.)

I thought I wouldn’t be playing Warcraft III anymore.

Q: What does the Warcraft III mean to you? In your career, have you ever had the idea of transformation (changing game or job)?

Sok: This game – Warcraft III has been with me for almost half of my life, so it can be the game of my life. Although I am not young now, I feel very honored to be able to compete with the players I saw on TV during my student days.

Besides of Warcraft III, I have not seriously practiced, so I have not thought about transformation. But after joining the army, I thought I wouldn’t be playing Warcraft III anymore. I didn’t expect to continue playing Warcraft 3 now.

Q: Many Chinese fans also know that you can dance. Now, is your level better than before? Will there be a full dance for the fans who support you if you have the opportunity to be in Offline tournament?

Sok: It’s a little difficult since I have grown older and heavier. What I am best at is one-handed stand, but if I do it more, it will put pressure on my wrist, so it will affect my performance game.

About the full dance, let’s see if we have the chance. After all, I have to consider my age, right?? Hahahaha.

Q: Finally, before the end, please say a few words to your fans who have always supported you.

Sok: Thank you for your support. Recently, I also feel that my strength has improved. I will continue to maintain my current competitive state, and not to be arrogant. I will show you more exciting game, thank you!
