“Offline competitions for me are more formal and grand which is so exciting.”

Q: You were one step away from winning the championship – do you feel that it’s a pity?

Fly: Actually, I think the result was alright. As long as I play hard without regret, I feel satisfied. At this stage, Moon is for me a really difficult opponent. Losing to him is pretty normal.

Q: No matter what, Silver is still a good ranking. Before the tournament, you said in your WeChat moments that the conditions of online and offline tournaments are not the same and you are better offline than online. What is the secret to this?

Fly: Offline competitions for me are more formal and grand which is so exciting. There really isn’t any special secret. If I must say something, then before the match I often will listen to some of my favorite battle anthems that get me focused and in the right state of mind.

“I want to thank TH000 as well as all the other orc players for providing this idea.”

Q: Let’s go back and review this competition. In the first round, you defeated Romantic. We have seen that after Orcs have begun perfecting that Farseer + Tauren Chieftain strategy, Humans are at a loss at what to do. How do you now view the Orc vs Human match-up?

Fly: Ever since the ways of using Stomp improved, the win rate against humans has gotten pretty high. This is an especially effective response against Rifes. I want to thank TH000 as well as all the other orc players for providing this idea.

Q: In the semi-finals, you defeated the invincible Happy 2-0. How do you think you won?

Fly: I prepared before the match. I really want to thank 120 and PCG123 for helping me practice – especially 120 who gave me some incredibly useful advice.

“Perhaps it’s related to our play-style, I think that 120 is a little bit more difficult to play against than Happy.”

Q: As for Happy, some people think he is overrated while others say he is extraordinarily strong. That level of player do you think he is? Between him and 120, who is the more difficult to play against?

Fly: Happy is right now one of the strongest Undead players – there is no doubt about this. Before the tournament, Happy and I met on ladder quite often where we both traded wins and losses. However, perhaps it’s related to our play-style, I think that 120 is a little bit more difficult to play against than Happy.

Q: In the finals, where do you think you didn’t do well? Was it the“classic fly” problem? (Often losing Blademaster)

Fly: Haha, yeah, it’s one of the reasons. Before the competition, I did not imagine that I would move on to the finals – just thought about how to deal with happy. So I didn’t prepare for the final round nor for Night Elves. Also my play-style has always been aggressive which sometimes leads to the “classic fly” after a rash move – but I think if you play it too safe, the loss will perhaps be even uglier.

“For the players, we prove ourselves with our achievement.”

Q: In the recent past, your performance has not been all that great – but this time you really did amazing. How do you think you got yourself back in shape?

Fly: Actually, I don’t really think I did all that amazing – I am still not at 100% I got to work harder.

Q: When performance begins to decline, you always have those who start to question that you are getting too old. Seeing this, how does it make you feel?

Fly: Actually, this is all very normal. Everyone has the freedom to say whatever they want. For the e-sports player being cài (doing poorly / playing bad / newb) is the original sin. For the players, we prove ourselves with our achievement, there is no meaning to say anything else.

“It has taught me how to change diapers.”

Q: What is sustaining you to continue being a professional Warcraft player?

Fly: The love of the fans, Support of Lie (his wife), and my own stubbornness.

Q: How do you think you have changed after having a daughter?

Fly: It has taught me that to make baby formula, you must first add water, then add the powder – also how to change diapers. As well as the responsibilities of fatherhood.

“Whensoever Fly falls, it never gives up.”

Q: Soon Reforged will come out – what expectations do you have for it?

Fly: New heroes? New units? Then come out with some new items the best would be adding two additional item slots! Haha – Actually, no matter what it includes, I am really looking forward to it.

Q: Finally, what would you like to say the “飞粉们”(Fly’s dedicated fan base)?

Fly: 不论何时,某飞会跌倒,但从未放弃。(Bùlùn hé shí, mǒu fēi huì diédǎo, dàn cóng wèi fàngqì. )

Whensoever Fly falls, it never gives up.

(Translator’s note: This is much more eloquent in Chinese)
