We received additional information yesterday after our post about Readmore Reforged Open Cup’s cancelation.
According to our source and friend:
“We were really happy with the viewership during the cups. Actually the main reasons are the current state of Warcraft 3 -> Unfinished game, shitstorms, the way how Blizzard deals with it and the vague future of WC3, which could end up with a lack of possible sponsors (in long term) and because there is no way for our homepage to benefit from the viewership at the moment.
These are the reasons why the company, who owns Readmore, suddenly decided to cancel the tournament series. I guess the expectations were too high before the release. As an e-sports page with a large community of passionate WC3-fans , who writes about Warcraft 3 since 2005, Readmore is very sad about this outcome. Thanks to every single participant and everyone who followed our tournaments!”
